About Me . . .

Picture
My name is Linda and I am a Registered family child care provider in Odenton, MD.  I have worked with children for over 20 years and am Registered with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). I have always been committed to providing quality child care to all children in my care. With meaningful learning experiences in a nurturing and stimulating environment, children will feel safe and encouraged to learn through their play.

I began child care when my first child was one year old.  At that time my main motivation was to be able to be home with her, however, after another child and many years it is difficult to picture myself doing anything else. There's a great deal of satisfaction in owning your own business but the pleasure of seeing so many children experience success is beyond gratifying. It is doubly rewarding as well to hear from previous parents, and share in their child's life-long successes.

I am CPR/First Aid/SIDS Certified along with achieving the The Maryland Child Care Credential at level 5 for many years.  I have completed both the original and updated versions of the Maryland Model for School Readiness (MMSR) and the Creative Curriculum training through Teaching Strategies and frequently attend early childhood training classes and conferences. I am published at a level three in the Maryland Excels Program which is a program designed to highlight quality child care using a star system. All these programs encourage quality but my focus is and has always been on the measured successes of the children enrolled.

I am a member in good standing of the following professional organizations:
The Anne Arundel Family Child Care Association
The Maryland State family Child Care Association
The National Association for Family Child Care

The National Association for the Education Young Children

I am a firm believer, as research has shown, that the first five years of a child's life are the
foundation that shapes their future development. This philosophy motivates me to provide a solid learning environment, with a "play group" focus where fun is the goal. We follow a flexible schedule of "learning time" in a developmentally appropriate setting, focusing on the process of learning, not the product.

Family child care is a stressful profession and it is sometimes difficult for a provider's family. In order for me to concentrate on the children, it is necessary to establish a set of guidelines upon which my daycare is operated.  After reading my Policies and Agreement, you should understand my goals, but feel free to discuss any questions you may have with me.  As stated, this is a family child care, which means it is also my home.  Because I have my own family to consider, it is important that all clients respect my hours of operation, my sick policy, and my need for prompt payment of weekly fees.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child's care with me, call me at 240-535-8010 or 410-695-5256. Thank you!
