Why Choose Regulated Child Care?

Registered child care providers are required by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), to provide quality child care for each child. As the operator of a Registered Child Care Home I am required to:

*Maintain a current Registration Certificate and have it posted in my home.

*Submit to an unannounced inspection every year.

*Submit to an inspection by the county Fire Marshall every two years, as well as have monthly fire drills and post an emergency fire exit plan in the home.

*Submit to a criminal records check for the provider as well as anyone over the age of 18 in the home.

*Complete 24 hours of approved child development training,  CPR/First Aid Certification every two years, SIDS training, Emergency Preparedness and Medication Administration training.

*Be assessed by a licensing expert to ensure suitability for working with young children.

*Program Standards are maintained in order to facilitate the development of your child in numerous areas such as: 

Physical Development-

*Make provisions for both indoor and outdoor activities

*Promote the development of self-help skills

*Encourage good health and safety habits  

Emotional Development-

*Help children express positive and negative feelings in an appropriate manner.

*Provide children with as many opportunities for success as possible, so that they can accumulate a variety of successful experiences that will contribute to their sense of competency and self-confidence.

Intellectual Development-

*Offer a flexible daily program that responds to the needs and interests of the children.

*Provide an environment that facilitates the development of curiosity, reasoning and problem-solving skills.

*Provide activities and materials that encourage creative endeavors such as art, music, movement, imaginative play, story-telling as well as many other activities.

Language Development-

*Provide opportunities for children to develop receptive and expressive language skills

*Encourage communication

Social Development-

*Provide an environment for children to work independently and to share and work cooperatively in small groups

*Provide an environment that encourages positive behavior in children.

*Help children appreciate differences and respect the personal feelings and property of others.
